Volunteers are the heart of Howard's Mission. Every item we receive is sorted, organized, and prepared by dedicated volunteers before reaching individuals and families in need throughout Northern New Jersey and New York.
Whether you can volunteer once or become a regular part of our team, your time and effort help provide comfort, dignity, and hope to those we serve.
What Volunteers Do
Volunteers help with a variety of tasks, including:
- Sorting donated clothing
- Organizing inventory
- Packing clothing for distribution
- Preparing donations for our partner organizations
- Assisting with special events and community outreach
Every volunteer plays an important role in ensuring donations are distributed with care and respect.
How to Volunteer
Getting involved with Howard's Mission is easy!
Everyone is Welcome!
We welcome volunteers of all ages and abilities. Whether you're volunteering on your own, with your family, or as part of a group, there's a place for you at Howard's Mission. No experience is necessary, our team will guide you every step of the way.
1. Sign Up
To help us prepare for your visit, please email helpfromhoward@gmail.com with your name, the date you'd like to volunteer, and the number of people attending.
2. Join Us During Volunteer Hours
Volunteers are welcome during our regular volunteer hours located at 8 East Frederick Place, Cedar Knolls, NJ 07927
3. Volunteering with a Group
Schools, businesses, churches, scout troops, sports teams, and community organizations are welcome to volunteer with Howard's Mission. If you have a larger group, we're happy to schedule a private volunteer event that works with your schedule. Simply email helpfromhoward@gmail.com to coordinate a date and time.
4. Make an Impact
Every item you sort helps provide clothing and essential items to individuals and families in need throughout Northern New Jersey and New York. Together, we're delivering hope and dignity, from our hands to theirs.
More Ways to Help
- Clothing Drives: Collect new or gently used clothing for men, women, and children.
- Toiletry Drives: Gather essential hygiene items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, and other personal care items.
- Fundraisers: Organize a fundraiser to help us purchase high-need items like new socks, new underwear, winter clothing, and other essentials that are always in demand.
We'll work with you every step of the way by providing guidance, promotional materials, and coordinating the collection, delivery, or pickup of your donations.
